Guitar and Strings Faculty

DOMINIC DESTEFANO, Suzuki and traditional method violin and viola, teaches with violin
and viola technique rooted in the methods of Ivan Galamian and Dorothy Delay.  He is a member
of the Suzuki Association of the Americas and studied Suzuki violin pedagogy at the Capital
University Suzuki Institute.  Dominic received his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music
degrees from the College-Conservatory of Music studying with Masao Kawasaki and Catharine
Carroll. As an orchestral musician, Dominic performs with the CCM Philharmonia and Aspen
Festival Orchestras. Dominic's performances as a chamber musician have taken him to Italy to
perform with members of the Lark Quartet and to Aspen, Colorado to perform in the Center for
Advanced String Quartet Studies at the Aspen Music Festival where he was also a collaborative
artist in chamber music. He has studied chamber music with members of the Julliard, LaSalle,
Manhattan, and Tokyo String Quartets. A proponent of new music, he has performed and
recorded new works, including his own, in Cincinnati and has been featured on the Fresh Ink
Series in Aspen. Dominic is currently pursuing the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the
College-Conservatory of Music as a winner of the Gee International Viola Competition.

MARK HAAP, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, mandolin and dulcimer, has studied
music from the age of eight. He has studied at the Guitar Institute of Technology in Hollywood,
California, The National Guitar Summer Workshop in Connecticut and with many teachers from
a wide variety of musical styles. You can find him playing at numerous venues around Cincinnati
and Northern Kentucky.  He has been teaching privately for eight years. He has a BA and BS
from Northern Kentucky University.  His main interests are rock, blues, ethnic music, world
music and ancient music theory.

MIAO LI, Suzuki and traditional method violin and viola, began her violin studies at the age of
seven in Nanjing, China and was the winner of numerous regional and provincial competitions in
China. Ms. Li received her BM from the State University of New York at Purchase and MM
from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. Ms. Li is currently a
DMA student of Kurt Sassmannshaus and Won-bin Yim at the College-Conservatory of Music
at the University of Cincinnati. She was the winner of the CCM Starling Violin Scholarship in
2002 and 2004. In summer 2003 and 2004, Ms. Li was a fellowship student at the Aspen Music
Festival and School. She was the winner of the Prokofiev Violin Concerto Competition at CCM
and performed the concerto with the CCM Concert Orchestra in October, 2004. In 2003, Ms.
Li was a winner of the Virtu Foundation Instrument Scholarship and plays on an 1853 French
violin by Charles Adolphe Maucotel. She has taught extensively in China, New York and
Cincinnati. During summer 2003, Ms. Li was the teaching assistant for Mr. Kurt Sassmannshaus
at the Aspen Music Festival and School in Aspen, Colorado.

ERIC SUTTON, guitar, currently resides in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky.  He has studied guitar with
Ed Vardimen, Bob Mercer and Chris Wilke.  He is currently in the process of obtaining a
Bachelor of Music degree from Northern Kentucky University.  Eric has participated in the
Cincinnati Conservatory of Music classical guitar camps for several summers.  In these camps
Eric has played in master classes for well-known classical guitarists such as Carlos Perez (winner
of many prestigious classical guitar competitions) and Stanley Yates (composer of a series of
classical guitar arrangements published by Mel Bay publications).  Eric specializes in classical
guitar but is comfortable teaching students of all ages and styles.
